Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a motivational theory in psychology that explains how human needs can be organized and prioritized. According to Maslow, human needs are arranged in a hierarchy, with basic physiological needs at the bottom and higher-order needs at the top. The five levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs are:
Physiological Needs: These are the most basic needs, such as food, water, air, and shelter. Without these needs being met, a person cannot survive.
Safety Needs: Once physiological needs are met, the next level of needs is safety. This includes physical safety, as well as financial, emotional, and psychological safety.
Love and Belonging: After safety needs are met, the next level of needs is social needs. Humans have a fundamental need for love, affection, and a sense of belonging to a community or group.
Esteem Needs: Once social needs are met, the next level of needs is esteem. This includes both self-esteem and the esteem of others, such as respect and recognition.
Self-Actualization: The highest level of needs is self-actualization, which is about achieving one's full potential and becoming the best version of oneself.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs suggests that humans are motivated to move up the hierarchy, with higher needs becoming more important as lower needs are met. However, it's important to note that not everyone will reach the highest level of self-actualization, and different cultures may prioritize different needs in the hierarchy.
